US Army Sgt Joel L. Murray,
26 years old, of Ogden, Kansas was honored in a
memorial service 14 Sept 2007 in Salina,
Kansas.
Patriot Guard converged from Kansas to
pay their respects and honor Sgt Murray and his
family. Sgt Murray received full
military honors
which were conducted by a Major General and his
honor guard from Fort Riley.
Also attending were many
many active duty military and high-ranking
officers from Fort Riley and throughout the
state. National Guard were present,
and the ROTC
from St. John's Military Academy. The "Quiet
Thunder" all-women equestrian team, formed a
barrier of horses
and flags across from the
church. Nearly every citizen of Salina lined Ohio
street from Ryan's Funeral Home to the First
Baptist Church, holding flags and saluting as the
procession passed, showing their love and respect
for Sgt Murray.
The Patriot Guard thanks each and every person who participated
in honoring Sgt Joel Murray and standing guard for
his family, friends, community, and his fellow
soldiers who came to pay their respects.
