US Army Spc David J. Lane,
20 years old, of Emporia, Kansas was laid to rest
on 13 Sept 2007 in Emporia, Kansas. Patriot Guard
converged from Kansas and other states to pay
their respects and honor Spc Lane and his family.
Spc. Lane received full military honors which were
conducted by a Major General and his honor guard
from Fort Riley. Also attending were many active
duty military and high-ranking officers from Fort
Riley and throughout the state. Many were
National Guard from Emporia. The citizens of
Emporia were well-represented, attending both the
funeral service and the graveside services,
and lining the streets to show their love and
respect for Spc Lane. We had the honor of
having 4 active duty soldiers back from Iraq who
rode with us to Emporia.
The Patriot Guard thanks
Charles Liles, Kansas Patriot Guard bagpiper, for
his inspiring music. He has been to every Fallen
Soldier's funeral since becoming involved with the
Patriot Guard. His contribution is outstanding,
and very meaningful to everyone present. Thank
you, Charles.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Patriot Guard road

down the road and through traffic, helping all of
us to complete our mission safely.
