  Sfc Forrest Robertson   US Army Sgt 1st Class Forrest W. Robertson died 03 November 2013 during combat operations in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.  He joined the Army in 1996 and was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Stewart, GA.  He served five deployments - one in Bosnia, two in Iraq, and two in Afghanistan.  He was a highly decorated cavalry scout platoon sergeant and received many commendations, including the Combat Action Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor, and four Bronze Stars.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, 14 November 2013, 1100 hrs (11AM) at Trinity Baptist Church, 16655 West Highway 24.  Burial with full military honors followed in Wamego City Cemetery.

DOD Identifies Army Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

            Sgt. 1st Class Forrest W. Robertson, 35, of Westmoreland, Kan., died Nov. 3, in Pul-E-Alam, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Stewart, Ga.
